About Hanou
I’m a professional photographer on South Africa’s West Coast. Most mornings start at the harbour or on the granite, waiting for the light.
I photograph two kinds of subject for myself. One is wildlife, up close and in black and white, where skin, stripes and ivory become texture. The other is the sea, slowed down with long exposures until the water turns to mist around the rocks.
The rest of my week is spent with people: matric farewells, portraits, weddings, and the guesthouses up and down the coast that need their rooms to look as good online as they do in person.
The ebooks and courses are the notes I wish I’d had when I started. Each one is built from my own photographs, with the settings and the edits that finished them.
What I work with
- Full-frame mirrorless bodies, a 100–400mm for wildlife, a 16–35mm for the coast
- Solid ND filters (6 and 10 stop) and a tripod that lives in the car
- Lightroom Classic for every edit
